“The quality, construction, and tonal definition delivered by Pig Hog cables are unbeatable. I started using them while touring with the artist John DeMena, and I loved the signal quality these cables provide. He lent me a few for some shows of his tour and a recording session to test them out, and I found them truly incredible.”
Cristián "Chino" Vargas is a professional bassist with a degree in Jazz and Popular Music Performance from Projazz Professional Institute, where he was recognized as an outstanding alumnus. During his time at the institution, he was also a member of three of Projazz's core and representative ensembles — Ensemble Musicantes, Ensemble Superior, and the Projazz Big Band.
In 2018, he toured Mexico with national singer-songwriter Mauricio Sepúlveda (Joaquín Murieta Band), performing at various venues in Mexico City and surrounding areas: Guadalajara, Querétaro, and the Alterno Festival in Guanajuato (the most notable performance). That same year, he also joined the iconic national Soul & Funk band Matahari, playing at several major venues and clubs across Santiago.
With over 15 years of experience as a musician, Cristián has played with various national artists and internationally renowned jazz musicians such as Carl Hammond (Sextet and Los Big Guns), Janek Gwizdala, Oscar Stagnaro, Russell Haight, Frode Gjerstad, Hank Hehmsoth, among others. He has also worked with pop and rock artists like Pablo Ruiz, John DeMena, Demarco Flamenco, and more.
Currently, he is working with national artists Clemente, Angelo Pierattini (El Guerrero Incansable), Matahari, Joaquín Murieta Band, among others, as a session musician and private bass/music teacher.
To conclude, it is worth noting that Cristián is an international artist endorsed by brands such as Darkglass Electronics, Spector Basses, Sit Strings, Raven Straps, Pig Hog Cables, and the national store Overdrive.cl.
