Hector "Papo" Camacho, a native of the island of Puerto Rico, began playing the guitar at the age of 15. He was heavily influenced by nineties artists such as Sound Garden and Nirvana while later on, he discovered rock icons such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors thus feeding his musical curiosity.
While studying Audiovisual Communications, his interest in music continued to grow, leading him to begin his formal studies in Guitar Performance in Popular Music and Jazz. Camacho then began performing with bands, at clubs and different recording studios in the island. During this time he was signed as an in staff musician by the record label Machete Record/Universal Music Latino to work exclusively with multiple-award-winning producers Luny-Tunes.
During this stage of his career, Hector also known as PopTweaker, name he got from his colleges for his ability to bring a “tweak” to anything he worked on, he began collaborating with artists such as Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi, Tommy Torres and Don Omar among others on live and studio performances.
Camacho then relocates to New York City where he goes on to perform in different projects and studio sessions. From 2009 to 2010 Camacho joins Ricardo Arjona’s World Tour: Gira Quinto; performing at several arenas, stadiums and coliseums.
In 2011, he decides to make the move towards Miami, Florida to begin work with artist Prince Royce on his first album and subsequently, goes on tour with him around the US, South and Central America. Throughout this time, he continues to pursue his recording profession and in 2012, for his work on both albums he is nominated for “Best Tropical Fusion Album” for Prince Royce’s “Phase II” as well as in 2013 for “Best Christian Album” with Marcos Vidal entitled “Tu Nombre,” for the Grammy Awards.
Currently, Papo Camacho continues to pursue his passion, performing internationally with Colombian Superstar J Balvin. Balvin has earned several Latin Billboard Awards, Grammys and other multiple recognitions throughout his career. With a Guinness Record-breaking smash hit such as “Ginza,” with the longest stay at number one on the US Hot Latin Songs chart by a single artist, and now “Mi Gente,” J Balvin has taken Camacho on an incredible ride, captivating audiences worldwide.
