"Having been a professional touring musician for over 10 years, I have seen and used a lot of different audio gear to manage live shows and recording. Nothing beats the quality and "bang for your buck" than Pig Hog. I have been a loyal and dedicated customer for over 2 years now" — Dwight Dixon | Member & Tour Manager || Modern B.C.
Modern B.C. is an old-school hip-hop vs. new-school metal rap/rock project created from the hot Sonoran Desert sands of Phoenix, Arizona. The band’s genre-bending songs derive from a love of the original rhyme spitters from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s, leading to when the world was first exposed to a mix of hip-hop and rap with rock and metal. Influenced by Eric B. & Rakim | N.W.A. | and Public Enemy to Kendrick Lamar | Lupe Fiasco and Tobe Nwigwe.
The lyrical compositions of frontman Atum Hunter touch on real issues of oppression, politics, revolution, and standing strong in the face of adversity. He is proudly joined by the legendary DJ Psychopat on the turntables and producer Phill Real on bass. Modern B.C.’s heaviness comes from guitarists Zak Banks, “The Guitar Pig” Matt Lawson, and drummer Dwight Dixon, who have become staples in the Arizona music community. Influenced by punk and hardcore from the coasts of New York and California, to the powerful modern sounds of today’s metal artists, they come out swinging with a strong punch to the face of anyone standing in their way.
This synthesis creates a brand new, yet familiar soundscape that Modern B.C. are honored and proud to share with you. Modern B.C. hopes to bring genuine connection back to the world of music. To stand beside you and remind you that standing up for what you believe in is the strongest stance you take in your life. To not believe everything you see or hear. To not always do as you’re told. Modern B.C.’s unique blend of music symbolizes this effort to fight for unity against our oppressors. To bring us back together and discover who we’re meant to be as a community. To rebuild from the ashes of the fires we, ourselves, set ablaze to burn in hope. Welcome to a new age: Modern B.C.
